My Energy Healer at school shared this yesterday after our meditation and I wanted to share it.
The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some monetary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond
Our minds and our thoughts are guests in our body and soul. They are only passing through. So accept each one, accept each bad mood and bad thought. Recognize that they won’t last forever. Even if they do last for longer than expected, remember that they are there for a reason. Invite all thoughts and emotions in with open arms but hold on loosely and let them go. For example this morning I slept in, til 6. I usually get up at 5 ,do my yoga practice and meditate. But this morning my body just felt too tired and was completely content sleeping an extra hour. My body and mind must have been on a slower schedule this morning because I then found myself rushing with only five minutes until I had to leave the house. I had to recognize that these feelings and disturbances are only temporary. Never permanent.I encourage you to think of this when a negative thought or feeling occurs. It’s extremely reassuring and I guarantee it will invite a new emotion to arrive.
